- Outlook Security Alert Certificate Keeps Popping Up Windows 10
I have a samsung galaxy s4 that's not even a year old. I just moved to a new city and I just got my new internet set up. I have never had this problem before. but I keep getting a 'Security Warning' popup message that says 'There are problems with the security certificate for this site. The name of the site does not match the name on the certificate.'
I hit the view button and something pops up about akamai technologies and servers. I dont know what that is, but research online showed that its a legit certificate. so I hit 'continue' but then not even 1 second later, the same security pops up again. and again. and again. I hit cancel, it still pops up. I hit continue, it still pops up.
I thought it was my web browsers (I use chrome) so I went and cleared/ended all tasks, and deleted the memory cookies and turned my wifi and data off, and I still get the same popup.
When Im texting, it pops up. when Im not doing anything it pops up. When Im listening to music it pops up. Basically no matter what Ive done it keeps popping up. I tried resetting the date and time, but the date and time were already correct. My internet is all secured with wpa2. I have knox on it, but I dont use it, and there were no updates for that, or for the OS recently.
Basically, its really freaking annoying and I dont know what to do about it. Please help me, I cant even text my parents without it being a bleep.
I had a customer with an SBS 2008 server who called this past week to say that they were getting the following popup alert when starting up Outlook 2010:
The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site
I ran the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer to test Autodiscover for this customer. And sure enough, it was failing the test to validate the server name.
Certificate name validation failed. Host name xxx.com doesn’t match any name found on the server certificate.
The first article I reviewed was KB 940726. Although the title of this KB article indicates that it was written for Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2007, it is also applicable to Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010. It covers how to change the internal URL for the Autodiscover service stored inside Exchange via Exchange PowerShell commands.
However, in my case, the PowerShell command get-ClientAccessServer | fl was showing that the AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri field was showing the correct URL.
In talking with other MVPs, it appears that the issue may have to do with someone making changes to the domain name “A” or “cName”. I am still tracking that down.
But meanwhile, I was looking for a quick solution to at least suppress those popup alerts on a short-term basis, as I was going to be traveling for the next several days.
More research lead me to this blog post from Tipst3r titled: “Turn off Autodiscover for Outlook”, which was a recommendation for adding a registry key called “Exclude ScpLookup”. I gave it a try, but it did not appear to work. Also, I wanted more information as to what this registry key did, and why.
So, on further searching, I found Microsoft’s KB 2212902 titled: “Unexpected Autodiscover behavior when you have registry settings under the Autodiscover key”. This article listed seven different optional registry settings that one might create and use.
I started working with these options, and found that using the following three options (setting them to a value of “1”) would disable the “security certificate is invalid or does not match” popup window from appearing:
- ExcludeScpLookup
- ExcludeHttpsAutoDiscoverDomain
- ExcludeSrvRecord
I’m not one to generally implement a workaround. So part of this was just a desire to understand more what was going on “under the covers”, so to speak. I will be testing out making the recommended changes to the domain records later, but since I will be gone for a week, I did not want to make such changes at this time.

Having an odd problem that I need help with. Server is SBS 2011 with Exchange 2010 (SP3, Rollup 11). User's old PC is Windows 7, Office 2003. New PC is Windows 10, Office 2016 and is domain joined.
Outlook Security Alert Certificate Keeps Popping Up Office 365
When we open Outlook 2016, it connects to the mailbox and Outlook seems to work well. However, the entire time Outlook is connected, there's a 'Windows Security' popup always on top that says 'Microsoft Outlook Connecting to' with the user's email address. The 'OK' button is greyed out, but the cancel button works. If I click 'cancel' then the status bar in Outlook changes from 'Online with Microsoft Exchange' to 'Need Password'.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've killed and re-created the profile, I've purchased a real SSL certificate for the SBS server and installed it into Exchange, and now I'm stuck. I can't deploy this PC to the user like this.
Can anyone offer any further troubleshooting tips or suggestions? Anyone come across this before?
